Hitchcock Fleming & Associates Inc. (hfa), a full-service marketing and communications firm based in Akron, Ohio, will receive a 2011 Small Business Council Excellence in Business Award presented by the Greater Akron Chamber.
Jack DeLeo, hfa chairman/CEO, will accept the award June 10, 2011, at the chamber’s annual Excellence in Business luncheon at Sheraton Suites/Cuyahoga Falls.
The Excellence in Business Award recognizes businesses with 250 or fewer employees that have consistently demonstrated outstanding performance, growth, staying power and innovation and have proven their leadership in the community.
hfa was established in 1940 and is among Ohio’s largest marketing agencies.
DeLeo said, “hfa is truly honored to be recognized by the Greater Akron Chamber and the professionals on its Small Business Council. This award is a credit to our marketing agency’s clients, board, management team and nearly 100 associates.”
Nick Betro, hfa president/chief creative officer, said, “We’re extremely grateful to work with innovative companies. We appreciate the opportunities to collaborate with our clients to achieve marketing excellence.”
Led by DeLeo, Betro and Chuck Abraham, executive vice president/CFO, hfa’s management team charts the agency’s strategic growth while overseeing its direction. The team identifies business trends, shares leadership insights and fosters opportunities for internal and external collaboration.
hfa’s boundless vision, passionate perfectionism and years of relevant experience have made the hfa team experts at bolstering brands across multiple channels to achieve customer activation. In the end, hfa does more than market brands; it advocates for its clients’ businesses.
Excellence in Innovation
hfa’s digital innovations include web configurators, such as a room painter hfa created for Glidden.com that allows users to paint virtual rooms with almost endless color combinations. Another hfa innovation is a web video application that allows users to email a video, then recipients of that email can use the video’s interface tool to email the video to others. The application tracks email routing and related information for clients.
Three teams hfa created to benefit clients are the Future Team, the Green Team and Opportunity Makers. The Future Team strives to identify, explain and interpret influential technologies, socio-cultural movements and new marketing channels and techniques. The Green Team recognizes and acts on eco-friendly marketing opportunities. Opportunity Makers provide uniquely creative perspectives to practical challenges, identifying opportunities for innovation, differentiation and growth. These teams’ services are free of charge to benefit clients and the agency in the long run.
hfa’s creative work has earned 147 international and national awards and 25 regional awards in just the past three years. Among these are awards from the international Web Marketing Association for 2010 overall Best Of Show and Best Manufacturing Website for Glidden.com, and 2011 Best Of Show Rich Media Online Ad and Best Healthcare Provider Rich Media Online Ad for Akron General.
BtoB magazine has named hfa a top U.S. agency for four years running, and hfa is the largest Ohio-based agency in BtoB’s Top Agencies 2011 report.
hfa’s innovative internal training programs range from associate-produced presentations to webinars to In-Your-Shoes Day, which enables associates to spend time in the “shoes” of other associates.
hfa is a leader in the American Association of Advertising Agencies and in numerous charitable, educational and civic organizations, helping generate millions of dollars for charity.
