"Our business is fast-paced and employees are challenged to think fast on their feet when solving printing problems. By centralizing educational materials in one location, employees can respond quickly, " said company owner Jim Corliss.

The employees of Braintree Printing are an experienced and varied crew of digital and offset printing professionals. Staff include veteran craftsmen trained in the art of traditional lithography, college graduates with degrees in digital design and technicians skilled in operating bindery equipment.

Recently, Braintree Printing created an in-house lending library for all employees to help them keep pace with printing trends and technology. Filled with printing equipment manuals, resource guidebooks, printing trade magazines and how-to books as well as cd's and dvd's, the library lets employees share and learn new information during the workday.

"The printing industry changes on a daily basis; there's always something new to discover," said customer service representative Robin Clark, the company's unofficial technical librarian. The large collection of printed material is organized by category and Clark helps staff locate specific publications. The library allows easy access to printing and graphic communications information, sales and marketing techniques and new media trends.

Manuals for Braintree Printing's newest Xerox equipment fill the shelves, alongside the latest editions of trade magazines such as Quick Printing and American Printer. Books include the Adobe Acrobat Bible; Ink and Color: A Practical Guide for Printers; Print Production Work Flow; the Social Media Field Guide and Direct Mail Pal.

According to Corliss, Braintree Printing purchases the most technologically advanced printing equipment. He says the lending library is yet another valuable investment.

Customers of Braintree Printing can access an online library by clicking "Resources and Support" on the company's website (http://www.braintreeprinting.com). They'll find a glossary of printing terms as well as links to articles and software reviews and tips. "It's our way of making printing and computer technology less intimidating for our customers," said Corliss who noted that informed clients and employees speed a printing job along. "After all, quick printing is what we're all about," he said.
