The Army National Guard Job Connection Education Program (JCEP) helps unemployed and under employed National Guard Soldiers achieve their goals. JCEP also helps to increase National Guard force stability by improving Army National Guard (ARNG) Soldier's ability to research, obtain, and retain civilian employment through education and job search skills training.
The Houston JCEP Staff began providing employment support eight months ago to Service members and their Spouses with the goal of placing 100 program participants by June of this year. Today, Melinda Merillat’s placement signifies the Houston team’s attainment of their lofty goal. Ms. Merillat has been selected to become the Senior Director of Marketing and Public Relations for the College of Biblical Studies in Houston. When Ms. Merillat first arrived at the JCEP – Houston office on April 21, 2011, she brought with her a very impressive background in community outreach, marketing, and event planning. Melinda is a Gold Star Aunt and is Founder and President of the Houston Run for the Fallen. Ms. Merillat also is a weekly talk show host for “Sunday Night with Melinda” on KSBJ Radio in Houston.
Melinda met with Jay Rudolph, JCEP Training and Development Specialist, and began formulating a career path to success. With the help of JCEP’s one-on-one employment counseling, Melinda’s outlook was transformed immediately. “I’m excited and hopeful!” said Melinda, after meeting with the JCEP staff. Upon receiving resume development assistance and employer partner referrals, Melinda began seeing immediate results. Ms. Merillat expressed her satisfaction with JCEP by saying, “Thank you so much for your involvement. I’m certain your help pushed my resume to the forefront!”
