Unlike other tools that simply post individual items to social media sites, Rately lets you create a comparison of several items and then share it with friends for feedback.

Digital Scientists, an eCommerce-focused digital marketing firm, is excited to announce the launch of Rately, the only tool that lets shoppers compare items and ask friends for feedback on the web. Now consumers can shop anywhere on the web, save items, and get feedback from friends on multiple items across multiple sites.

“Rately is based on an important insight: one or two words of advice from family or friends can mean more than thousands of product reviews from complete strangers,” said Tom Klein, Digital Scientists, CEO. “Unlike other tools that simply post individual items to social media sites, Rately lets you create a comparison of several items and then share it with friends for feedback.”

Rately integrates modern tools for creating, organizing, and sharing content on the web - a bookmarklet, a web application, and social network integration (Facebook and Twitter). In addition, any Rately question can be embedded in a blog or site (similar to a YouTube video).

Consumers can use the Rately bookmarklet, for free, to get feedback anywhere on the web. Retailers can add a Rately button to promote sharing from their site, which in turn generates word of mouth and drives sales.

How Rately works:

Users launch the Rately bookmarklet while shopping and, then, save items they like to their queue. Then, they can either continue shopping and saving items or create a question. The question can be about one item or a comparison of multiple items.

Next, the user selects Facebook and/or Twitter to share the question with their friends. The question also posts to the users Rately wall along with friends’ feedback. When friends link from a question on Facebook or Twitter, it is easy for them to interact and provide feedback.

Klein added, “I am not a huge shopper, but when I use Rately, I actually enjoy shopping. It can be a lot of fun engaging with my friends and discovering new items from them. Plus, when I need advice on a complicated purchase, my friends are there to help me.”
