Popular annual survey shows that employers are hiring 22 percent more entry-level college grads than in 2010.

RSS, the number one entry-level job site, today released the results of its annual Top Entry-Level Employers survey. The top five employers of entry-level college graduates include Teach for America and Hertz, among others. Findings from the survey reveal that 2011 is seeing an increase in hiring for the first time in two years. The number of entry-level hires increased 22 percent from 2010, indicating a much brighter job outlook for recent college graduates, who faced an 11 percent hiring decrease last year.

“We are really excited to find that so many employers are reaching out to the newest generation of business professionals,” said Meghan Prober, spokesperson. “This news is especially exciting for new college graduates, as the last few graduating classes were faced with economy and job market woes.”    

The survey was completed by companies of all sizes, who expect to hire anywhere from three to 8,500 entry-level employees, with the latter projection coming from Enterprise Rent-a-Car. Additionally, the survey reported that the most popular major among entry-level hires is business administration. Employers were also surveyed about what they look for in entry-level candidates, listing an individual’s college major, interviewing and communication skills, and experience as the three most preferred characteristics. Furthermore, results of the survey showed that college campus career fairs are the most popular recruiting method for employers, contrary to the notion that social media might be replacing traditional recruiting methods.
