"It's a shame ... most foreclosure cases are unopposed. I want homeowners to ... realize the benefits a lawyer ... can provide at a rate virtually anyone can afford."
Tampa, FL (PRWEB) June 14, 2011
Mark Stopa, a prominent foreclosure defense attorney who represents several hundred Florida homeowners, is putting on a free foreclosure seminar for Floridians, five of whom will receive free legal representation.
Stopa Law Firm is conducting the seminar on Saturday, June 25, 2011 at 11:00 at Hyatt Place / Westshore, 4811 W. Main Street in Tampa. Mr. Stopa intends to speak about a variety of foreclosure-related topics, including strategic default, loan modifications, short sales, bankruptcy, and other "hot button" foreclosure issues.
Mr. Stopa envisions the seminar as a way for Florida homeowners to learn about the foreclosure process from the perspective of a foreclosure defense attorney. Mr. Stopa is particularly interested in making homeowners realize the benefits and affordability of defending a foreclosure lawsuit with an experienced attorney.
"It's a shame that, despite extensive media coverage in recent months about foreclosure fraud and robo-signers, most foreclosure cases are unopposed. I want homeowners to understand the rights they enjoy as homeowners, and I want them to realize the benefits a lawyer such as myself can provide at a rate virtually anyone can afford," said Mr. Stopa.
"To help achieve these objectives," continued Mr. Stopa, "and to help give back to the community, my firm will provide free foreclosure defense to five homeowners of my choosing."
Homeowners who are facing foreclosure and struggling financially are encouraged to attend the seminar. Even if they aren't one of the five chosen for free representation, Stopa Law Firm believes all homeowners will realize the benefits of affordable legal representation.
A secondary objective of the seminar is to explain the pros and cons of strategic default. With thousands of Florida homeowners underwater on their homes, strategic default has become more common. Yet many homeowners are unsure how or whether to proceed.
"Strategic default is a viable option for many homeowners," said Mr. Stopa, "but most are unsure of the consequences. I want to remove the uncertainty about strategic default and help homeowners decide if stopping mortgage payments is the best option for them."
