Conant and Associates, a Leading Nuance Authorized Sales Agent, Hires Director of Sales to Expand into the Private Practice Physician Market

Conant and Associates, Inc., a leading provider of Professional Services as a NASA, today announced the hiring of Jim Busby, a senior healthcare executive, as Director of Sales for the expansion of their Sales and Marketing focus on the private physician market. Mr. Busby brings to CAI extensive experience within the EMR and Speech Recognition industry and was a leading driver for the introduction of speech recognition technology in the early 90s for Kurzweil Applied Intelligence, at a time when the technology was nowhere near as robust as it is today.

“We are very proud that Mr. Busby has joined our team,” said CAI’s President, Reid Conant, MD, FACEP. “The experience CAI has maintained as a premier partner for Nuance, primarily within the Cerner PowerNote client base, combined with the understanding Mr. Busby has of the power of Dragon Medical utilized within the ambulatory EMR market will allow us to provide a unique offering to the physician market place driving to implement EMRs and attain meaningful use quickly.”

“I am pleased to be given the opportunity to draw on my extensive network within the EMR market and experience promoting clinical documentation systems that lend themselves to the adjunct of Dragon Medical as an alternative to dictation within an EMR on behalf of CAI. What intrigued me most about CAI is the added value they bring to any EMR implementation via a software program Dr. Conant and his development team have created, referred to as the “PowerPack™,” said Busby.

With more than 200,000 physicians now using Dragon Medical to dictate patient information into EHRs, speech recognition is increasingly recognized as an essential component to successful EHR rollout. As the Health and Human Services Department works to define “meaningful use” of an EHR, Nuance believes that speech recognition software can help physicians and organizations move toward complying with what will ultimately be considered “meaningful” EHR use, by ensuring that clinicians actually utilize the EHR without having to take on the burden of documentation via keyboard. Speech-supported EHRs have been proven to make clinicians up to 25 percent more efficient than those using non-speech-enabled EHRs.
