Atlanta-based Business Computer Applications, Inc. (BCA) has been awarded an $8 million dollar task order to provide IT and statistical support to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s (CDC) National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS).
The task order was awarded as part of BCA’s selection as a prime contractor for a major section of the CDC’s Information Management Services (CIMS) Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ) award contracts announced last October. Lockheed Martin and NOVA Research Company were selected by BCA to serve on the BCA-led NCHS team.
BCA has assembled a team of health researchers, programmers, graphic specialists and other technical and scientific staff to provide world wide data collection and statistical updates for NCHS. The work will be performed by the BCA team at the NCHS Hyattsville, MD and Research Triangle Park, NC offices.
“The CDC’s demanding selection process is a direct reflection on the quality of the BCA team members and their knowledge of NCHS’s requirements based on our almost 15 years of experience working with that organization,” said Albert Woodard, BCA’s chief executive officer. “It is an honor to assist the agency in its collection of statistical information that helps guide the health of the public. Reports and papers produced by NCHS cover a wide variety of information about America’s health. They range from statistical classifications of diseases and causes of death to hospital preparedness for national disasters and other major incidents. They also include statistical information on a variety of diseases and conditions including cholesterol, diabetes, heart disease, and obesity, among others.
Last October’s CIMS win enables BCA to vie for other task orders in the CDC’s Information Management services area. These include the planning, design, development, maintenance, engineering and integration of information systems; health IT, public health informatics; information security; and project and program management support.
