We've had many customers ask us for these APIs for integration into custom dashboards and reporting frameworks. We're happy to come through for them and open up two major components of PagerDuty.

PagerDuty today launched a new set of APIs for current customers of the popular, SaaS-based IT alerting and incident tracking system. The new APIs give customers programmatic access to incidents and on-call schedules within their PagerDuty accounts. The new incidents API allows companies to query their incident data and integrate it into their custom operations dashboards. It also allows companies to produce tailor-made summaries and incident reports for their IT operations teams on a weekly or monthly basis.

Using this API, enterprises can integrate their on-call schedules with their existing calendar applications, user directories, and messaging systems such as Campfire, Hipchat or IRC. Allowing for tight scheduling integration with an enterprise's existing systems is just one more way that PagerDuty strives to ensure that no problems or alerts go unattended even for short periods of time, as it helps bring more visibility into when users go on and off-call.

"We are working aggressively to create a full suite of APIs to allow customers to programmatically control every facet of PagerDuty. Today, we've met a major milestone by providing query APIs to two of the core components of PagerDuty: incidents and on-call schedules." said Alex Solomon, co-founder and CEO of PagerDuty. "We've had many customers ask us for these APIs for integration into custom dashboards and reporting frameworks. We're happy to come through for them and open up two major components of PagerDuty."
