Rick O’Pry brings 30+ years of Healthcare IT consulting experience to new company

Rick O’Pry, former Founder & CEO of J. R. O’Pry Consulting and IntraNexus today announced the launch of his new Healthcare IT consulting company, HIT Strategists, Inc. The consulting firm leverages resources from prior senior roles in hospital administration, as healthcare consultants, and in the hospital information systems (HIS) vendor space.

Mr. O’Pry founded J. R. O’Pry Consulting in 1992, which provided information systems selection, process-improvement and implementation services to over 250 hospitals across the nation. The consulting firm was engaged to implement many different clinical and patient financial systems and experienced first-hand the enormous challenges facing healthcare institutions to effectively gain adoption and realize the anticipated return on investment.
In 2001, one of the patient financial systems – ALLEGRA – that J. R. O’Pry Consulting had implemented at over 100 hospital locations became available for purchase. Based on their extensive experience and knowledge of the system, J. R. O’Pry Consulting acquired ALLEGRA and created a joint software and services company called IntraNexus.

The endless experiences the now HIT Strategists team learned from two decades of consulting and implementing HIT systems and being a HIT vendor themselves – is unique and invaluable.
"I started HIT Strategists to return to what I enjoyed most – healthcare IT consulting. I believe the market is still in need of experienced allies to help evaluate and choose new technology, design new process and workflows and effectively implement major HIT vendor solutions,” said Rick O’Pry, President of HIT Strategists.
