Compagnie Financière et Boursière Luxembourgeoise S.A. (COFIBOL), an asset management firm in Luxembourg, has implemented Asset Arena Investment Accounting, SunGard’s real-time investment accounting system. With Asset Arena, COFIBOL has transitioned from a manual to automated environment, with rigorous controls in place helping improve accuracy and risk management. The system helps COFIBOL reallocate the time spent on data entry to managing and analyzing data.

COFIBOL will also use Asset Arena Client Portal, a reporting and data extraction tool through which COFIBOL’s fund managers can quickly and easily access fund information, helping improve both efficiency and responsiveness in the middle-office. COFIBOL also leveraged SunGard’s deep asset management expertise in order to identify more efficient processes, including improved workflow automation and streamlined management of data feeds both to and from COFIBOL’s many partners.

Asset Arena Investment Accounting is used by asset managers and servicers around the globe to support investment operations, accounting and reporting for a broad range of assets, countries and territories. Asset Arena helps these firms increase efficiency and reduce costs, while adapting more quickly to changing regulations.

Alex De Jésus, Administrateur Délégué (Managing Director), COFIBOL said, “We are a lean organization and our core business is generating returns for our investors. We are not in the business of technology, and therefore it was vitally important that SunGard work closely not only with us but also with our external IT management provider. SunGard helped us optimize our back-office operations, maximizing the functionality and flexibility of the Asset Arena system to enhance our business processes.”

Doug Morgan, president of SunGard’s institutional asset management business , said, “Luxembourg is an important financial centre that is experiencing growth because of companies like COFIBOL. We are pleased that Asset Arena has been able to help COFIBOL transform its back-office investment accounting operations, helping it gain efficiencies, improve controls, and be better positioned to take advantage of the growth of this dynamic market.”

Founded in 1985, COFIBOL is an asset management firm based in the Grand-Duchy of Luxembourg. COFIBOL serves as a stockbroker, promoter, central administration agent, domiciliary agent, and transfer agent of Sicav PLACEURO, an umbrella fund created in 1985 with 26 sub-funds, and Sicav EURO CONTINENTS, an umbrella fund created in 1995 with 5 sub-funds. COFIBOL opened a full branch in Wavre, Belgium in 2004, and in 2006 created a Management Company, Compagnie Financière pour la Gestion Collective S.A. (COFIGECO), for Sicav Placeuro.
