Hayes, Inc. President and CEO Discusses Comparative Effectiveness and Evaluation of Evidence-Based Research at Case Management Society of America’s 21st Annual Conference

Incorporating evidence into clinical practice is the challenge.

Dr. Winifred S. Hayes, PhD, President and CEO of Hayes, Inc., will be an invited speaker on June 16, 2011, at the 21st annual conference and expo of the Case Management Society of America (CMSA). Dr. Hayes will explain how comparative effectiveness research and evaluation of evidence-based research can advance healthcare in ways that measurably improve the care of patients, as well as their clinical outcomes and overall health.

“To improve healthcare, we need to identify which interventions work best for which subpopulations of patients, and under what circumstances,” says Dr. Hayes. “How we generate this kind of evidence and incorporate it into our decision making and clinical practice is the challenge.”

Dr. Hayes lectures and publishes as an advocate for the role that evidence-based decision making plays in improving patient outcomes and healthcare resource allocation. She currently serves on the Board of Directors of URAC, an independent, nonprofit organization that is a leader in promoting healthcare quality through its accreditation and education programs. She is also an Associate of the Women Business Leaders of the U.S. Health Care Industry Foundation™ (WBL).

Dr. Hayes received her Doctor of Philosophy degree from the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health (Bloomberg School of Public Health). A graduate of the University of Maryland School of Nursing, with Primary Care Nurse Practitioner and Master of Science degrees, she has served as an Associate Professor and Program Director for the Occupational Health Nursing Graduate Program at the University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing. She also served on the faculties of Emory University and the University of Maryland. She is currently affiliated with the Senior Scholars Program in the Department of Health Policy at the Jefferson Medical College. Dr. Hayes currently serves as a Population Health Associate, Jefferson School of Population Health, Thomas Jefferson University, Philadelphia, PA.
