We’re really proud of the legibility / aesthetic balance we’ve achieved - it makes for something pretty hard to classify that sits somewhere between a book and a magazine.

Cornwall-based graphic design agency, Venn Creative, founded by Zander Grinfeld and Andy Hurtel-Hymans in 2009, won the award for The Parabola Project, a journal designed and produced by Venn Creative for not-for-profit writing organisation Telltales.

Zander Grinfeld commented:

“As a brief The Parabola Project presented some unique challenges, we were starting with a blank slate, with a limited budget and high aspirations. We’re really proud of the legibility / aesthetic balance we’ve achieved - it makes for something pretty hard to classify that sits somewhere between a book and a magazine. We were also careful about sourcing and selecting illustrators who suited the publication, we were keen to make it an opportunity to raise the profile for established and up-and coming illustrators alike - as it does for writers.

The Media and Innovation Awards celebrate the innovative use of media and design across the South West of England and Venn Creative was thrilled to receive a nomination and to win in a much coveted category as Zander Grinfeld explains:

“With every project we do we aim to create something that achieves its goals, pleases our client and looks great - and The Parabola Project for Telltales was no exception. Our client was delighted and we were really proud to have designed and produced it, to then have our work recognised in the industry, nominated for an award and then to win it was the icing on the cake.”

The Venn Creative team had no time to nurse sore heads after the awards ceremony, instead it was back into the studio to work on website development, brand identities and print design for its ever growing list of clients. 2011 has been a busy year for the graphic design agency, with recent client projects including Coca-Cola and The Good Cornwall Guide. The creative company is currently recruiting for a much needed extra pair of hands to help coordinate its client projects.
