These days, as many guests are arriving with surf boards as golf clubs.

On the Riviera Nayarit north of Puerto Vallarta, active travelers will find some of the best recreational opportunities on land and sea. Now, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita introduces the new Surf and Turf package, so guests can mix and match their time on the waves and the course, with accommodations and additional recreational activities included.
“These days, as many guests are arriving with surf boards as golf clubs,” notes Arturo Castro, golf pro and surfing expert at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita. “Whether you’re a beginner or experienced surfer, the area around the Punta Mita peninsula and up the coast offers fantastic surfing. And, our two on-property Jack Nicklaus-designed golf courses provides challenges and fun for novice to professional level golfers.”
Circling the Punta Mita peninsula and stretching up the coast, the Riviera Nayarit includes eight different breaks to suite every level of experience.
The Punta Mita peninsula offers world-class waves without the crowds, so surfers can enjoy the solitude of board against wave. On the south side of the peninsula is a good place to start, and El Faro is behind the 15th green of the Resort’s Bahia Golf Course. La Lancha is considered one of the most reliable spots for catching waves, and El Anclote, seen from the 7th fairway of the Pacifico Golf Course, is a perfect for surfing newbies.
Further up the coast, the village of Sayulita is a surfers’ mecca, with its“gallery of spectators” sipping cool drinks at the beach-side cafes. Shortboarders who know Malibu Point in California will find Los Veneros familiar, and further north, experienced surfers take their chances over the razor-sharp reef at Swimming Pools. Surfing the Beach Break is a memorable experience-one is likely to get “barrelled” before coming out to the sandy bottom beach.
Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita offers expert guides who know exactly where to catch the days best breaks, and who advice on optimal board conditioning. Guests can bring and store their own boards, or enjoy a complimentary rental as part of the surf and turf package. Surf lessons may be arranged for free.
Now boasting two Jack Nicklaus-design 18 hole courses, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita has attracted serious and recreational golfers since opening in 1999. Both courses are designed to take advantage of the ocean side landscape, and are fringed with palm trees against the backdrop of the majestic Sierra Madre Mountains.
The Pacifico Golf Course is highlighted by the famous Tail of the Whale #3B, the world’s only natural island green. To get to it, a special amphibious vehicle is at the ready. The Bahia Golf Course opened in late 2009, offering undulating fairways and oceanside holes that can make playing a round as much a sightseeing expedition as a game of golf.
Full-service facilities include a clubhouse with locker rooms, and the Tail of the Whale restaurant for pre-game fuelling up and post-game refreshments (a beverage cart also makes the rounds on the courses). Golfers can bring their own clubs, or arrange for rentals from the Pro Shop. Practice facilities include a driving range and putting green, and the Resort offers regular clinics for all ages and experience levels. Private lessons may also be arranged.
Even the Spa at Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita caters to golfers-the customised Golfer’s Massage soothes tired muscles and prepare the body for tomorrow’s round.
Available from now through November 21, 2011, the new Surf and Turf package includes unlimited golf or a three-hour guided surf session on each full day of the stay for up to two people per room. The package includes accommodations, complimentary surf board rentals, the opportunity to participate in scheduled golf clinics, unlimited use of the golf practice range, and unlimited non-motorised water sports. A minimum three-night stay is required.
In addition to outstanding surf opportunities and golfing, Four Seasons Resort Punta Mita includes the Apuane Spa, a fully-equipped fitness centre, three pools, two beaches, four restaurants and three bars, a teen centre and a supervised children’s program in its own facility.
