Raleigh, NC (PRWEB) June 17, 2011
The attorneys of the Raleigh law firm of Leone Noble & Seate, LLP traveled to Joplin, Missouri the weekend of June 10, 2011 to assist the victims of the massive tornado that destroyed much of the city on May 22, 2011. Managing partner, Beth Leone Noble and associate attorneys Patrice Ray and Mike Rothrock spent the weekend cleaning up rubble from home sites that were demolished from the storm's 200+ mile per hour winds. Many of the homes had nothing left but the foundation. The cleanup consisted of pulling up housing and yard debris and sorting it in piles near the street curb for pickup.
"It was such a rewarding experience," said Ms. Noble. "The home owners of the sites we were working on were simply not able to do for themselves as many were elderly, injured or in the hospital. To be able to give them some peace of mind with our efforts was something we will always cherish." The level of devastation was unbelievable. "Houses and businesses just flattened as far as the eye could see," recalled Noble.
Noble was extremely impressed with the spirit of the people of Joplin. Those she met and talked to were grateful to be alive and confident that they would be able to rebuild their lives. Noble also gives credit to the volunteer organizations that were active in Joplin including the American Red Cross, the Salvation Army, AmeriCorps and the United Way. Those organizations helped to coordinate the volunteer efforts as well as feed and house the tornado victims.
