Pregnant and 18, Caitlin Hatch Earned Her High School Diploma by Completing Two Years of High School at Mavericks in Just 7 Months

Caitlin Hatch was pregnant, 18 and like so many other young women in her condition, in need of help. At the urging of her brother Robert Algarin, 18, currently a student at Mavericks High School, Caitlin found Mavericks unique educational approach to be exactly what she needed.    Mavericks is a unique high school that gives students with exceptional needs, between the ages of 15 -21, an opportunity to earn a high school diploma. Here at Mavericks, Caitlin could proceed at her own pace, go to classes almost round-the-clock and graduate faster than at any conventional high school.

With the support of Mavericks staff and teachers, Caitlin had her opportunity to quickly complete 12.5 credits in just 7 months of daily double sessions and even classes on Saturday. “It was so important for me to graduate before my son was born”, said Caitlin.

With the help of family, friends and the staff of Mavericks High School Caitlin completed high school in record time and now with her new son Jaydhen as her inspiration Caitlin intends to graduate on June 17, 2011 from Mavericks and them pursue getting her nursing degree.
