TapBase has announced that the company has successfully completed private beta testing of its Tap mobile payments, loyalty and rewards platform and has moved another step closer to its official launch. "We're very pleased with the progress to date", reported CEO, Robert Mallett. "We believe our solution is attractive to both consumers and merchants; and combines the convenience and accessibility of traditional magstripe technologies with the security and flexibility of emerging technologies such as Quick Response (QR) codes and Near Field Communications (NFC)."
The Tap platform consists of a number of tightly integrated mobile applications and hardware products that will be available on a number of mobile platforms including iOS, Android, Blackberry OS and Windows Phone:
TapPay -- transforms mobile devices such as the iPhone and Android-powered smart phones and tablets into mobile, wireless point-of-sale terminals, allowing merchants to accept credit and debit payment cards anywhere.
TapWallet -- is an e-wallet developed for consumers to securely store payment and loyalty card information, and track TapPay purchases in real time.
TapCard -- allows merchants to offer their own co-branded payment and loyalty cards for use with the TapPay and TapWallet applications. TapCards are available as physical cards that can include magstripe, barcode and contactless interfaces, as well as electronic versions that can be stored and used directly from the TapWallet.
TapPoints -- is a rewards program that allows merchants to connect with consumers through their mobile device. TapPoints encourages repeat business through the award of redeemable points tied to sales and patronage.
After an open beta testing period, TapBase expects to official launch the Tap platform in the second half of 2011 for US customers. Companies wishing to participate in the open beta are encouraged to contact the company directly for further information.
