PPM 3.0 raises the bar in terms of project management on SharePoint.

While at the Gartner PPM and IT Governance Summit today, CorasWorks Corporation, a global leader in business solutions and applications on the Microsoft SharePoint collaboration and social platform, announced the release of CorasWorks PPM 3.0 for SharePoint 2010. PPM 3.0 is a flexible, fully customizable project and portfolio management solution designed to accommodate a wide variety of project, portfolio and program management scenarios.

“CorasWorks PPM 3.0 is a robust, enterprise-ready project portfolio management solution,” said Gary Voight, president and CEO of CorasWorks. “SharePoint—especially SharePoint 2010—is a natural platform for project, portfolio and program management. It is the one app that everyone on SharePoint seems to be interested in. There are others who offer project management on SharePoint, but no one else has true enterprise capabilities or offers the flexibility that we do with PPM 3.0.”

PPM 3.0 is comprised of many integrated modules, including Social Project Management, Portfolio and Program Management, PMO/Demand Management, Resource Management and Portals/Communities. The unique architecture of the solution allows a user to select and use only those modules that are pertinent to their organization. As needs change, other modules can easily be added to the solution.

“We’ve designed this version of PPM with two key goals in mind,” said Dan Naselius, Chief Operating Officer at CorasWorks. “One, we want to make it simple and straightforward to tailor the solution to the specific needs of the organization. Not every organization will need the full enterprise capabilities of the solution, so we have made it very easy to right-size the solution to your specific organization. Two, we wanted to provide deep and standardized integration with other enterprise applications. So, in PPM 3.0 we have native integration with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project 2010 and Outlook. We also enable integration using an open XML format with other back-end enterprise systems and reporting tools, including Excel, Access and SQL Reporting Services.”

CorasWorks PPM 3.0 builds on the strength and power of the previous version by enhancing and extending an already-robust feature set and adding a long list of new features. Some of the key new features include:

  •     Native integration with Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project 2010 and Outlook
  •     Enterprise reporting capabilities through Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Access, SQL Reporting Services and others
  •     Full program management capabilities with the ability to identify, map and track dependencies across projects
  •     Robust scheduling engine
  •     Structured Stage-Gate process for Demand Management
  •     Drill-down BI-style dashboards
  •     Full document management capabilities
  •     Workflow based on Windows Workflow Foundation and SharePoint Designer
  •     Out-of-the-box Projects, Portfolios, Programs, PMOs, Communities, Resource Allocation and Portals.

“PPM 3.0 raises the bar in terms of project management on SharePoint,” said Naselius. “Its modules, feature set, integration points and reporting capabilities are unrivaled on the SharePoint platform, and the beautiful thing is that it is very flexible to allow a user to customize it to meet their specific project portfolio management needs.”
