Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) June 16, 2011
Imagine your loved one is in a car accident and rushed to an out- of-state hospital Emergency Room. Your family is frantic, because they have no way of knowing what’s going on, and no idea what is going to happen next. It’s a scenario that gets repeated over-and-over, every single day in the United States. Questions swirl: Have they taken him/her to surgery? What is his/her condition? When will he/she be released?
Now, imagine having all of those answers delivered as real-time, HIPAA-compliant, secure status message updates, (“Mom’s Out of Surgery,” “She’s Resting Comfortably,” “She’s Going Home Tomorrow”)—and sent directly to your computer or mobile device, by doctors & healthcare providers.
Thanks to MDconnectME, a featured exhibitor at this year’s Mobile Health Expo in New York City, you’ll be able to do just that. Company co-founders, Dr. Chad Gordon and Scott Anzel, a healthcare communications veteran, say their brand new patient-directed network, aims to disassemble the current limits of healthcare provider and family interactions.
Dr. Gordon, knows all about being a healthcare pioneer. He was a member of the First U.S. Face Transplant team at The Cleveland Clinic, and is the clinical visionary behind MDconnectME.
In 2008, Dr. Gordon, spent multiple days by the face transplant patient’s bedside, following the landmark procedure, and coordinated communication between the doctors, nurses, and the patient’s family. During this time, he was challenged by the difficulty of assembling family contact information, and coordinating secure lines of communication, which needed to abide by the strict HIPAA regulations for confidentiality and privacy.
Dr. Gordon realized something had to be done, to bring patient and healthcare provider communication into the 21st Century. And from this experience--MDconnectME was born.
The company is currently working to partner with healthcare facilities nationwide, as a part of its ‘Early Adopter’ program. MDconnectMe is expected to launch in Summer 2011.
