On June 29, 2011, PIA staff will be on hand in the Grand Strand Conference Center to meet prospective students and their families to answer any questions that they may have regarding the Aviation Maintenance Program. This will be the first time the public will get to tour the Shine facility after the presentation at HGTC.

PIA students are immersed in hands on programs that fully prepare them for many diverse industries upon graduation. Graduates are extremely versatile employees that are in high demand in the fields of Aviation Maintenance and Aviation Electronics. Companies all over the United States are aware of the high standards set for PIA students and many of them come directly to the graduates upon graduation including Mesa Air Group and Avcraft here in South Carolina.

For over eighty years, the Pittsburgh Institute of Aeronautics has been recognized as a premier training school for aviation maintenance. Many graduates have become high-level managers with major airlines, the FAA, and contract maintenance facilities. Bringing its history and tradition of excellence to South Carolina, PIA has decided to team up with HGTC. This educational partnership will allow students to train for a career as an Aviation Maintenance Technician at PIA and receive an Associate Degree through HGTC. Students will also be eligible to test for the FAA’s Airframe and Powerplant Certification upon completion of the program.
