Over 200 military uniformed men and women (Air Force, Army, Coast Guard, Marines and Navy) along with spouses or guest lit up the street while waiting in anticipation of the "Dinner for Heroes," troop support Gala at the Aqua Lounge, Once inside, they reveled in an evening of honor and celebration.
Among those attending were famed Beverly Hills plastic surgeon, Dr. Norman Leaf. He said "I was thrilled and impressed with the quality and the positive atmosphere of the event, as well as how grateful and moved the troops were at being honored in such a heartfelt way." Dinner for Heroes MC Harvey Walden (Retired Sgt, Celebrity Fit Club) said he felt honored to be involved as the MC for the event. He was moved to see his comrades enjoying themselves, relaxed and free from the burdens of war, at least for the evening. Noted Actor Thom Barry (Cold Case, The Fast and The Furious) enthusiastically mentioned his support for any program that shows such genuine caring for the troops like "Dinner for Heroes." Rising star Jackie Thon (American Idol Finalist, Platinum Hit) performed while giving kudos to all the heroes in attendance. The up and coming Pop act, "The Sledge Grits Band," rocked the crowd as they belted out upbeat songs. Esteemed Newport Beach Attorney Kelly Johnson mentioned: "It was one of the best times of my life, to see our military men and woman so overjoyed at being thanked and honored in such a gracious way. but, best of all, the troops themselves, one after another, gave humble thanks for the event held in there honor.
"Our mission with the program is to make sure our troops always know we are behind them 100% by showing them thanks, support and hospitality with special gala events in their honor," says Executive Director Eugene Fouchia.
Dinner for Heroes is a program dedicated to providing hospitality and entertainment to our military personnel as a way of expressing appreciation, gratitude and support. "Together we can reveal our love with a SALUTE for their sacrifice and service to God and our Country." says retired Air Force TSgt James Collins.
