Young Yogis ~ Happy Hearts in Motion ~ founder, Dr Nadia Delshad, integrates developmental psychology, social skills training techniques and family coaching methods with yoga sequences and poses, storytelling, social and emotional skills building games, music and other arts into a complete curriculum that engages the body, mind and heart in a way that honors all the ways children learn.

Young Yogis ~ Happy Hearts in Motion ~ is a new small SAHM business venture with a dedicated vision of sharing the benefits of Yoga Calm® with preschool children. It is never too young to begin a rewarding life journey of wellness and emotional health.

Dr Nadia Delshad has a broad background both academically and in practice, with training and experience in child psychology, clinical hypnosis as well as clinical psychology. She has significant experience in the assessment and treatment of anxiety, depression and adjustment issues, both in adults and children.

Yoga Calm®, founded by Lynea Gillen and Jim Gillen, works with a wide range of students, including those with ADD/ADHD, anxiety and other behavior disorders. This accredited program is research-supported, classroom-tested and praised by teachers, administrators and other education professionals alike. Students say that the skills they learn have helped them handle conflicts, deal with emotions and manage impulses. Parents also describe Yoga Calm® as a positive influence.

How Do Programs Like Yoga Calm® Help? Research has shown that: Simple breathing and biofeedback techniques slow the nervous system and help children develop self-control and connect with their feelings, preparing them for learning. Yoga poses and sequences release physical and emotional energy, improve physical fitness and emotional capacity, increase flexibility, and enhance self-confidence and concentration skills useful for learning and testing. Social/emotional games and counseling tools develop trust, compassion, communication, teamwork and leadership skills. On Tuesday and Thursday mornings from 10-11am in SW Portland, Dr Delshad holds social skills training and family coaching method groups with Yoga Calm® classes where preschool children develop social language and play skills, learn to negotiate and share and successfully work through conflict. Simple breathing techniques, yoga poses and sequences, counseling games and processes, relaxation techniques and storytelling help keep Happy Hearts in Motion. The program includes parent consultation and coaching.
