TE Connectivity (TE) is developing new cable and connector offerings to support Ethernet data rates as next generation demands grow from 1 GbE to 10 GbE. The cable offerings encompass a common family, capable of handing a range of speeds from 1 GbE through 10 GbE, IEEE 1394, and USB, and support next-gen platforms including UAV’s, helicopters, missiles and soldier systems.
Advanced complex avionics systems are driving smaller and lighter components, increased EMI shielding and faster speeds for the next generation of high-speed box-to-box interconnects. Smarter high-speed solutions require a systems-based solution with close engineering collaboration among developers of connectors, cable and termination methods. TE systems-based solutions and early engagement with TE engineers take the guess work out of choosing an interconnect scheme and ensure an optimized configuration.
TE connectors will include high-speed, small-form-factor circular and rectangular connectors with sizes as small as nanominiature. Termination methods involve mechanical crimp, solder, and high retention-force removable clamps.
