Reaching U Network, a Non Profit Organization, collaborates with Mark Edward, a Reaching U Network tele-funder, to save a family farm in Missouri from foreclosure.

On June 17, 2011 Reaching U Network collaborated with Mark Edwards, a Reaching U Network tele-funder, to pay a mortgage reinstate fee for a family in Missouri whose home was in danger of foreclosure. Mr. J.D. Worley, a grandfather of four, owns a farm home in a small Missouri town called Centerview.

A few years ago when his father died he moved out of the farm and into a home close to his mother’s house so that he could care for her. When his daughter Jeanine needed a home for her family of four children, Mr. Worley was happy to provide them his farm home. Mr. Worley made the payments on both homes with the help of his daughter, whose husband Bradley was working to support the family. Then just like many people who have been hit by the economic recession, Bradley was laid off. Mr. Worley continued to pay both homes but unfortunately the family would suffer another incident when a year ago Mr. Worley and his wife Penny were hit by a drunk driver, injuring his wife and totaling their car.

“We thought we would have that car for the rest of our lives, but after the accident we had to buy another one so that we could get my wife to her doctors appointments due to the injuries caused by the accident” stated Mr. Worley. This added expense and the extra medical bills for Penny became too much for the family and eventually they began to fall behind on their mortgage.

Mark Edwards met the Worley family in 1999 and had an automatic connection with the all American, hard working, middle class family. Mark had come to the family home to discuss a financial plan for Mr. Worley’s retirement. As a result of the strenuous work he had endured working thirty years in construction, Mr. Worley had to retire early. Realizing the family was in a bit of financial straits Mark began helping the family by providing $500 a year to the grandchildren in school supplies and even took them to Disney World one year. When Mark learned that the family was behind in their payments to GMAC Mortgage and needed $2,000 to reinstate the mortgage for their family farm he came to Reaching U Network with a request. Mark asked that Reaching U Network match his contribution of $1000 to help save the family’s home, Reaching U Network gladly obliged.

When Reaching U Network asked Mark why he wanted to contribute his own money to this family, he stated “I’m very lucky to have a great job that can provide me a good living situation; it only takes a little bit to give back to those that aren’t as fortunate.”

Mr. Worley never expected such generosity and appreciates that someone out there, like Mr. Mark Edward and Reaching U Network, are helping him to keep his family’s home, as without assistance his grandchildren may have ended up homeless. Mr. Worley says that his daughter and son in law have started working again and that their situation is improving; saving his home is a great start.
