Open the door to novel new art.
Poetry Band, a one of a kind modern theatre group has released a brilliant new double CD, rock opera, "ROOMS."
The two hour plus musical, is based on the book ROOMS by Wilson Sherman (the band’s lead singer) and ranks with the great spirituals of all time; masterpieces such as “Bach's mass, B minor,” and Handel’s “Messiah,” however, unlike those musically luminous works that are solely mass compilations, ROOMS shines with enlightening poetry, and is a play culminating with an amazing finale. Though some may argue that classical music is structurally more sophisticated than American music, it should be profoundly noted, ROOMS is more spiritually, and or, intellectually interesting due to its literary novelty.
In the past, Poetry Band was praised for breaking the sound barrier with their non-stop 60 minute plus improvisational CD's while introducing a unique approach to the Christian spiritual. The band is an anomaly in the music industry, as they can freely change band members, add orchestration, or alter music styles etc. while keeping the spiritual message a constant. On the new release, ROOMS, Poetry Band harnesses a powerful American music rock sound, that may lead to calling the work a, “rock opera.”
ROOMS, features a wonderful mixture of spoken word, long jams, and hit potential songs. For example, CD I unfolds, with an “Arise!” rebirth anthem, followed by the vibrant "Poet One", leading to the beautiful "Celestial Days" (a look at the Garden of Eden and Fall) to be followed by such songs as the ghostly,"Not of the World.” CD II begins with the prophetic song, "The Stars all Sing" that segues into the live improvisational sixty minute plus sojourn.
ROOMS, combines all the above wonderful artistry for a once-in-a-lifetime musical and literary experience!
Former President Bill Clinton enjoyed Poetry Band since his time in the White House, and wrote them that their last CD is "Great!"
As a one of a kind musical play, ROOMS would make an absolutely awesome movie or perhaps Broadway production.
