Stretch Inc., the pioneer and leader in software configurable processors, today announced the release of its IPCAM7120 IP Camera Reference Design Kit. The kit features the powerful S7120 software configurable processor from Stretch and can produce H.264 High Profile compressed video streams up to 1080p30.
The IPCAM7120 features the Stretch Intelligent Encoder and can compress video using MJPEG, MPEG4, or H.264 High Profile CODECs, which are supplied standard in all Stretch reference design kits. The highly efficient High Profile encoder produces streams with half the bit rate of competing solutions and produces the surveillance industry’s best video quality. The IPCAM7120 can also use the Stretch H.264 Scalable Video CODEC (SVC) to produce streams that can be parsed to tailor their bandwidth requirement to that of the network or their complexity to that of the decode capability of the client device.
The Stretch IPCAM7120 reference design is supplied with a fully-configurable Image Signal Processing (ISP) engine. Implemented in the software-defined architecture of the S7120, the ISP accepts raw image data from the supplied 1080p30 sensor and performs a series of algorithms to enhance the video and prepare it for compression. Operations include color filter array (CFA) interpolation, defective pixel correction, black level, Wide Dynamic Range (WDR), and 2D and 3D filtering to remove noise and enhance low light operation. These algorithms are fully configurable through a rich API and can be individually replaced or augmented by customers to differentiate their derivative products.
Commenting on the new design, Bob Beachler, Stretch vice president of marketing, operations, and systems design, said, “Our new camera design demonstrates the unprecedented processing capabilities of our S7000 family of software configurable processors. It can perform true high definition image processing and compression while retaining sufficient processor capability to allow customers to add their own features such as video analytics and multi-format encoding.”
The design includes a multi-speed Ethernet port used to output IP streams to client devices. The interface is ONVIF and PSIA compatible and the IP Camera reference design can be configured and monitored by a variety of industry-standard players. The IPCAM7120 reference design is shipped with a CVBS daughter card to provide standard definition analog video and allow the design to be used in legacy installations.
Mark Oliver, Stretch director of product marketing, said, “The small size, low operating power, and flexibility of this reference design make it a highly versatile platform. Because it is a production-ready design, customers can rapidly bring product to market, while using the flexibility of the design to produce highly innovative differentiated products.”
The Stretch IPCAM7120 reference design is available as a production-ready OEM unit sold in multiple unit packaging, as an evaluation kit, or as a fully-featured reference design kit. For pricing and availability of the IPCAM7120, please contact sales(at)stretchinc(dot)com
