Wine in the Pines is a two-day food and wine celebration held on the grounds of Swiftwater Cellars within the mountainous Suncadia Resort, only 90 minutes from Seattle. This year’s events will feature wine celebrity hosts Evan Goldstein, Master Sommelier and Thirsty Girl Leslie Sbrocco. More than 40 wineries from Washington, Oregon and California will offer wine tasting throughout the weekend along with local and regional star chefs sampling decadent fare.
The Wine in the Pines celebration begins its festivities on Friday, August 26th with the grand opening of the Rope Rider Golf Course and marked by a new tradition to the Wine in the Pines event, “Get Into the Swing of Swiftwater”. The hosts of the evening will be the owners of Swiftwater Cellars, Don and Lori Watts along with its winemakers Tony Rynders and Linda Trotta. Guests will delight in tasting the portfolio of Swiftwater Cellars wines and dining on self made dishes from tantalizing comfort food stations. Chef Paul Cotta of Swiftwater Cellars’, The Hoist House Restaurant, will create the palate of food for you to paint your culinary picture. Celebrity food and wine writers, Leslie Sbrocco and Evan Goldstein, MS will also share in this evening- a perfect combination to get into the swing of Wine in the Pines.
Saturday August 27th is a full day of events and guests are welcome to attend any single event or all events throughout the day. A new addition to the Wine in the Pines line up this year is the Wine Celebrity Seminar. A two-hour food and wine experience hosted by celebrity Master Sommelier and prolific author of food and wine pairing cookbooks, Evan Goldstein, MS. Accompanying him will be wine personality extraordinaire, Leslie Sbrocco, host of “Check Please!” on the PBS network, the regular wine expert for the Today Show, contributing writer for publications (such as, Good Housekeeping, O and Glamour magazines) and leader of the renowned “ThirstyGirl” movement making wine the focus of fun for all women. The American Lamb Board will provide four cuts of local farm raised lamb. Other special guests for the seminar will include a panel of winemakers, vineyard growers and Northwest chefs. This food and wine seminar will be like no other in its unique approach to experiencing wine and food in a classic and crazy way. Guests are sure to walk away entertained, informed and a little more wine savvy.
The afternoon of August 27th is the time for the 40+ wineries to gather for the Grand Gala tasting at 3:00pm on the scenic grounds of Swiftwater Cellars. Guests will enjoy the tastes of wine accompanied with small bites prepared by specially selected Northwest chefs, delicatessens and cheese mongers. The evening presents two choices to guests. The Winemaker’s Dinner will feature 10 of the Northwest’s finest winemakers sharing their handcrafted wines paired with a 5-course dinner prepared by Chef Paul Cotta of the Hoist House Restaurant at Swiftwater Cellars. Another new event for Wine in the Pines, is a more casual winemaker’s dinner, Meet the Maker, featuring 10 winemakers in a casual and fun atmosphere circulating from table to table where each winemaker shares their favorite creations or perhaps a vertical from the cellar. Live music and small bites accompany this experience.
The long day of events is finally celebrated upon conclusion of the Winemaker’s Dinner and the Meet the Maker as guests make their way to the Tipple Garden on the Swiftwater Cellars’ grounds for an “After Party”. Live music will make your boots quake enough to dance with food and wine flowing.
