Cantor & Webb P.A., a leading boutique law firm in the field of international tax and estate planning for high net worth international private clients, today announced that Arthur J. Dichter has been named to the firm’s partnership.

Mr. Dichter was most recently the director of tax compliance services at Cantor & Webb. He joined the firm in January of 2011, after a 20 year career at major public accounting firms.

“Art is a well-respected expert in the field of international tax, particularly issues related to U.S. tax compliance and information reporting requirements,” said Steven Cantor, managing partner of Cantor & Webb. “We’re delighted that he has joined our firm as a partner and look forward to his contributions as we continue our significant growth in this explosive niche area of legal practice.”

“International tax is an area that is continuing to expand as a result of the government’s Offshore Voluntary Disclosure Program and the implementation of the Foreign Account Tax Compliance Act (FATCA). Being a part of Cantor & Webb will allow me to focus on international tax compliance and planning,” said Arthur J. Dichter.

In addition to compliance matters, Mr. Dichter also assists high net worth foreign individuals in creating pre-immigration tax plans and in properly structuring their investments in U.S. real property and in U.S. estate gift tax planning for foreign internationals. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree from Muhlenberg College, his law degree from American University Washington College of Law and a master in laws degree in taxation from New York University.

According to Cantor, the firm has seen a substantial increase in client engagements over the past year, primarily in response to the increased focus by the IRS on enforcement of reporting requirements of foreign bank accounts, the enactment of (FATCA) and other similar legislation.

“For wealthy fiscal residents of the U.S. with offshore accounts, the days of sticking one’s head in the sand and hoping the IRS won’t spot that income are long over,” said Cantor. “This new reality has led to a surge in demand for our firm’s expertise in this very complicated field, provided by a team of seven attorneys with expertise in international tax and the professional support of 15 multi-lingual staff members.”

Cantor & Webb P.A. – named USA – International/Cross Border Law Firm of the Year in Florida by Corporate International Magazine 2010 Law Firm Awards - focuses exclusively in representing high net worth private international clients and their businesses in the areas of tax planning, estate planning, wealth preservation, commercial and property matters.
