International transformation leader Ed Silvoso of Transform Our World returns to Cincinnati Saturday, Aug. 27 for a half-day workshop sponsored by At Work on Purpose, the nation's largest citywide faith-at-work ministry. The event is organized for adults, college students, pastors, youth leaders and youth pastors who want to envision or re-vision their careers as vocations.

“We are working in partnership with Silvoso and Transform Our World to expand our spiritual impact here locally and share our best practices with them for application worldwide,” said Chuck Proudfit, president of At Work on Purpose.

At Work on Purpose (AWOP) of greater Cincinnati will host a “Transform Our World” event Saturday, Aug. 27 led by Ed Silvoso, one of the world’s leading practitioners of city-wide and national spiritual transformation.

Silvoso is an expert at harnessing the creativity and energy of Christians in the work place. A master speaker who is essentially the “Billy Graham of Europe,” and a leading figure on the international stage, Silvoso was a featured speaker at AWOP’s annual February event.

He is the founder and director of Transform Our World and Harvest Evangelism, which minister to the citizens of 300 cities on six continents.

“We are thrilled that Ed will be in Cincinnati for this event,” said Chuck Proudfit, founder and president of AWOP. “We are working in partnership with him and Transform Our World to expand our spiritual impact here locally and share our best practices with them for application worldwide.”

The Saturday, Aug. 27 event will run from 8 a.m. to noon at the Montgomery Community Church in Montgomery, 11251 Montgomery Road in Cincinnati. It will include three breakout “fast tracks” to inspire Cincinnati Christians to engage in marketplace transformation:

  • Adults—Dramatic results from other U.S. cities will show how marketplace leadership can contribute to city-wide spiritual transformation.
  • College students and pastors—Practical perspectives on the tough realities of work will guide emerging workers towards a vocational call rather than the standard career.
  • Youth and youth pastors—Transformation Foundations will help the young and those working with youth reclaim work as a form of worship, with true spiritual significance.

“Our goals with this conference are three-fold,” said Proudfit. “To share a wide range of inspiring faith-at-work transformation stories from cities all over the world; to equip participants with a set of practical tools to enhance our spiritual impact at work; and to connect participants to impact projects that will flow out of this Cincinnati conference.”

Silvoso was drawn to Cincinnati because of the rapid growth of AWOP, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people integrate their faith and work lives. With more than 5,000 members in greater Cincinnati alone, AWOP is the largest city-wide marketplace ministry in the nation.

AWOP supports Christians in connecting to work through individualized, small group, and project initiatives. Its membership includes Christians from local churches, denominations and zip codes throughout the Tristate.

Proudfit is also president of the fast-growing SkillSource business consultancy, which was named a 2010 TriState Success Award winner and designated a 2011 Perfect 10 Certified Corporate Culture.

In 2009, under Proudfit's leadership, AWOP was a partner in expanding to 22 Cincinnati locations the region's Job Search Focus Groups (JSFG), networking organizations for the unemployed. This network has emerged as the largest city-wide job search support group in the U.S.

AWOP also helped implement the Career Achievement Network (CAN), a Web site linking the unemployed with jobs.

AWOP was founded by Proudfit in 2003 as a ministry with three dimensions: to help people link their faith and work lives one work life, one work place, and one work community at a time.
