In its first-ever submission to the Telly Awards, Boston video production company Reflection Films has won recognition for a marketing video it produced for Exploration Schools (Explo). The video highlighted Explo’s unique Emergency Medicine Focus Program, which introduces middle-school students to the practice of medicine over a two-week summer experience.
“We enjoy doing work for schools because students and teachers always have a lot of positive energy,” said Rachel Jellinek, President at Reflection Films, “but filming for Explo was particularly fun. The kids were obviously very enthusiastic about their experience – whether it was practicing emergency medicine on dummies at Brigham and Women’s Hospital or checking out the helicopters at Boston MedFlight."
The video was produced and edited by Geoff Birmingham and filmed by Director of Photography, Rafi Landau. The Reflection Films' crew spent three days with the students, documenting their experiences learning anatomy and first aid in the classroom, practicing how to diagnose trauma victims with E.R. doctors, and trying out their surgical skills on computer simulations at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.
