Seeing the positive impact Habitat for Humanity has on this family and on so many other families in our immediate community reinforces my belief in the importance of a strong volunteer spirit.
Irving, TX (PRWEB) June 25, 2011
On a recent Saturday morning, a group of MJB Wood Group, Inc. employees set aside their knowledge and experience of lumber, boards and structural panels to work on their green thumb skills – planting grass, trees and flowers at a local Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity home project.
Although the home had been mostly completed by other Habitat volunteers, the yard was still barren post-construction dirt and rocks. MJB volunteers spent the morning preparing the ground, rolling out sod, digging holes for tree plantings and building a stone-bordered raised bed for flowers and shrubs. Several wood box-planters and an arbor with latticed sides and an arched top were donated by a lawn and garden décor company.
The four bedroom South Dallas residence became home on June 4 to a single mother raising seven children, five of her own plus a niece and nephew. “Seeing the positive impact Habitat for Humanity has on this family and on so many other families in our immediate community reinforces my belief in the importance of a strong volunteer spirit.” says MJB’s CEO Joe Caldwell. “At MJB, we take seriously our responsibility to contribute and hope that we will be privileged to take part in another Dallas Area Habitat for Humanity project in the near future.”
