TE Connectivity (TE) announces today at the Paris Air Show that Lumexis® CEO Doug Cline and TE's President of Global AD&M, Kevin Rock signed a multi-year supply contract for TE's rugged fiber optic solutions. This supports Lumexis’ in-flight entertainment product offering via "Fiber to The Screen™" (FTTS™) technology that delivers on the promise of “SWaP” by significantly reducing size, weight and power while simultaneously improving system performance.
“We selected TE Connectivity as a supply partner early in our development to tap into their advanced fiber optics technology,” said Cline. “We also wanted to lock in a source of uninterrupted supply to support our rapidly expanding demand.”
The FTTS fiber-optic backbone and interconnect scheme provides efficient installation, which in turn lowers the revenue loss from time out of service. With the FTTS design intent Lumexis delivers a robust and easy-to maintain fiber-optic IFE solution proven in daily airline service. To meet the challenge, Lumexis partnered with TE to develop the fiber-optic technology.
“We enjoy a collaborative working relationship with Lumexis that continually brings innovations through TE’s advancing fiber optic technology,” said Earle Olson, TE Business Development Manager, Global AD&M.
The FTTS system combines industry standard ARINC 801 fiber-optic interfaces with a flexible routing approach that allows room for growth, while providing long-term affordability through the lower installation and applied costs.
