Salinas to Debut State’s 19th California Welcome Center

June 30 grand opening celebration heralds valuable new visitor resource for Central Coast region

On June 30, Salinas will open the doors to the state’s newest California Welcome Center, providing a highly visible gateway to the Central Coast region and a wealth of information and resources for the area’s visitors.

The California Welcome Center program is a statewide program providing promotional support and official designation to independently owned and operated visitor centers to represent the state of California. The coveted designation was secured by the Salinas Valley Tourism & Visitors Bureau, and will put Salinas on the map for visitors seeking California travel destinations and information. Salinas is the 19th city to join the program. A 20th location at Buena Park, CA is scheduled to open in July.

The California Welcome Center Salinas grand opening celebration is scheduled to take place on Thursday, June 30, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at 1213 North Davis Road, Salinas, CA 93907 in the Westridge Shopping Center.

Festivities include live entertainment with mariachi and bluegrass music, light refreshments, a ribbon cutting ceremony, an open house, and informational addresses by Congressman Sam Farr, California Travel & Tourism Commission CEO Caroline Beteta, Mayor Dennis Donahue, and Salinas Valley Tourism & Visitor Bureau Executive Director Craig Kaufman.
