The Refinery today proudly announced the expansion of a new full-service office in Austin, Texas that will be opening in October, 2011. The Refinery is a privately held leadership development firm headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, operating throughout the Americas with satellite offices in Toronto, Calgary and Houston. The Refinery partners with clients to design, deliver and measure integrated initiatives to develop and grow leaders in the organization.

Austin, Texas is home to one of the fastest growing economies in the United States. Austin is one of the only metropolitan areas in the United States that has seen continuous economic growth through the economic recession due to its central location, and efficient infrastructure. Austin is one of the few cities in the world that seems to be on the forefront of all industries exemplified by playing host to the world famous South by Southwest Music and Film Festival, being the home of the University of Texas and numerous Fortune 500 companies including Whole Foods Inc.

Dr. Mark Frein, one of the managing partners of The Refinery, will be heading-up the new Austin location and will be leading the new team and their business efforts. Dr. Frein joined The Refinery in May 2007 as Consulting Practice Leader, and subsequently held the position of Managing Director before becoming a partner this year. In addition to his responsibilities at the firm, Dr. Frein is an active speaker and writer on leadership development, and an Adjunct Professor at a major business school in Vancouver. Dr. Frein, born and raised in North Dakota, is looking forward to returning to his homeland after more than a decade working abroad.

Barbara Ross-Denroche also states that, “Dr. Mark Frein is an educator of extraordinary means. His close proximity to our offices in Latin America and Houston will allow Dr. Frein to remain a vital asset to our current clients as well as the expansion of The Refinery.”

Dr. Mark Frein will be joined by current Refinery team members Paco Castellanos, Sergio Montiel and new Refinery member Will Tyne. Additional local additions to the team will be announced in coming weeks.
