Consona Corporation, a worldwide leader in providing customer relationship management (CRM) and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software and services for companies of all sizes, announced today the general availability of Consona Service Gateway Version 4.2 (Service Gateway v4.2). The latest release addresses many requirements of today's Digital Service Providers (DSPs) and builds on the increasing set of standards, protocols and devices driving exponential growth in the DSP market. The release also coincides with the availability of a new white paper that underscores these themes and states the business case for implementing Service Gateway v4.2.

Continuing on the themes of Service Gateway v4.1 (the first, true Consona release of the remote device provisioning and management software technology acquired from SupportSoft in 2009), Service Gateway v4.2 provides DSPs very flexible activation, provisioning and monitoring solutions that are capable of providing support for a multitude of devices and services within a subscriber’s home network.

Highlights of Service Gateway v4.2 include:

  •     Extended support for IPv6.
  •     New data model support for WiMAX and Femtocell devices.
  •     Added software module management support to provide application lifecycle management of dynamic software modules.
  •     Extended Java Management Extensions instrumentation and performance monitoring, including a new dashboard view to provide an overview of the health of the Auto Configuration Server and application server.
  •     Oracle 11 database support.

"This latest release is truly a nod to the current challenges in the DSP market — specifically those relating to the configuration of home network equipment as well as the continued troubleshooting and maintenance of these network devices" said Tim Hines, vice president of product management for Consona. "The new features in Service Gateway v4.2 streamline the connection and configuration of device and service activation, provisioning and management, ensuring a better overall customer experience."

Consona Service Gateway Version 4.2 is now generally available as an on-premise or cloud-deployed solution. For more information, visit http://crm.consona.com/software/products/service-gateway.aspx.

Consona is simultaneously making available a white paper that examines successful strategies to shape DSPs' roles in delivering bundled services and enabling multi-device connectivity. In "The Digital Home Universe is Expanding ... Now What?" Kurt Scherf, vice president and principal analyst at Parks Associates, explores the important elements of the DSP and the digital home, with a specific focus on device and service activation, provisioning and management.

“The DSP faces more competitive challenges and risks to their bottom line profitability than ever before. They must work harder and smarter to keep their own customers happy and to differentiate from their competitors,” said Scherf. “With hundreds of millions of worldwide households establishing the basic connection points to enable multi-device connectivity, it is a wide-open field as to which companies can most successfully mine this new opportunity.”
