"The Brussels Chamber Orchestra will be back again this year"
Wake Forest, NC (PRWEB) June 30, 2011
WCPE Community and Arts Liaison Tara Lynn announces the July edition of the WCPE Local Arts Series in collaboration with Quail Ridge Books and Music. Meet members of the Brussels Chamber Orchestra at Quail Ridge Books and Music on July 6th, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. and join a discussion on how music and art can bring our different cultures, communities and generations together. The Brussels Chamber Orchestra will perform live for this free event at Quail Ridge Books and Music, 3522 Wade Avenue, Raleigh, NC.
The Brussels Chamber Orchestra, comprised of young musicians from around the world, chose North Carolina as the location for its summer festival- The Cary Cross Currents Chamber Music and Arts Festival. This summer, the festival is in its fourth year, returning with concerts, free open rehearsals and social events. New this year is an art-music event for children and a side-by-side program that gives young local musicians a chance to perform with the world renowned musicians of the Brussels Chamber Orchestra.
On Wednesday, July 6th, members of the orchestra will share their insights on working without a conductor in an ensemble of many native tongues. Their cooperative approach and respect for each member’s culture and ideas make this event a fun and informative glimpse at orchestral life. The musicians will take questions and perform gems from the classical repertoire.
“We are thrilled that the Brussels Chamber Orchestra will be back again this year to bring local, international and educational collaborations to the stage,” offers Festival Director Neil Leiter.
“Thank you to the town of Cary for sharing our vision of 'crossing currents’,” he adds. “The incredible new arts center will allow us to bring an even more innovative and educational arts festival to the Triangle.”
For a sneak peek at the Festival line up, tune in to WCPE’s “Preview!” on Sunday, July 3, 2011. The program airs 6-9 p.m. and will feature an interview with Festival Director Neil Leiter and Executive Director Carrie Knowles.
