CrownRing’s decision to mount a display at the JCK trade show in Las Vegas, a respected event that features the principal jewelry designers and companies in the industry, was part of an aggressive marketing strategy to promote their Carlex line. On June 5th, 2011 that effort paid off strongly for the company. They were awarded the top honors in the platinum wedding band category by the Platinum Guild International.
Each year six specific and two general prizes are given out as part of the JCK Platinum Innovation Awards. All 180 entries were first evaluated by representatives from the principal bridal and fashion publications. The retailers participated in the final vote. The large number of entries embodies a rise of over 200 per cent from the previous year.
The Carlex winning entry was a platinum 11 mm wedding band mounted with 100 diamonds. The masculine and industrial feel of the piece is tempered by the placement of the stones, creating a fusion of textures that is very pleasing to the eye. The retail price of this stunning ring is over $10,000.00.
The Carlex booth was part of CrownRing’s efforts to be considered as “one of the big boys”. More than 200 dealers throughout Canada and the US presently carry the line. By 2012 they would like to see the collection in 300 of the 500 retail outlets currently handling the Carlex Collection.
The Carlex line was launched by CrownRing in 2008 and features unique designs that reflect the “look” of the iconic Rolex and Cartier brands of watches. “Where Architecture Meets Art” is an apt description of the style and feel of the rings. The inspiration behind the collection was to create a wedding band for men that would have the appeal of the one piece of personal adornment that most men wear. Theirry Bellisha, co-founder and design inspiration for all the company’s collections, explained their reasoning:
“We wanted to create a really sleek wedding ring for men, who are 90 per cent of our customers, and I realized the one piece of jewelry a man wears with confidence is a wrist watch.”
However, the rings have an appeal that extends beyond wedding bands for men. The pieces contain an inherent beauty that transcends the original intent and can be worn as non matrimonial jewelry, by both men and women.
CrownRing was founded in 1999 by friends Thierry Bellisha and Haimy Mann, with bridal and matrimonial jewelry as their target market. The headquarters are located in Montreal, Quebec and their quality is assured by the state of the art equipment used as part of the manufacturing process. The partners wanted the truly special moments of each person’s life to be represented by high quality jewelry that is guaranteed to maintain its beauty and last a lifetime.
CrownRing knew they had created a winner with the Carlex line, and now they have an award to prove it!
