Although Narconon drug education groups present all year round to hundreds of thousands of youth, young adults, police, the military, etc., the United Nations International Day Against Drugs, held every June 26th, they take as their own. After all, with 150 centers in 50 countries and over 40 years of waving this banner, they take heart that there is an international day on the issue.
The litany of pro-drug messages that proliferate we don’t need to review. The fact is that virtually every single child on earth today is going to have to make the decision to abstain from alcohol or other drugs, not once, but many times. Alcohol is abused on every continent. And between drugs on the street and in the medicine cabinet it is a challenge to get through to youth, to get them to think on the subject, talk about it amongst themselves, and make a solid, real decision to not poison themselves with this stuff. That’s what they call drugs in Sweden – stuff.
Narconon Uganda Drug Education. It can be done – drug education. But it can’t be that serious. Doesn’t work. “Don’t look in this terrible black box. NEVER look in the black box with drugs in it which will KILL you!” Boy, does that not work.
You have to come at it from a higher, lighter point of view. Really, you have to have some fun. NOW you can get their attention. And they will actually listen in.
Welcome to Narconon drug education community events. To review just this upcoming 26th’s list of happenings: Two districts in Uganda held a march and listened to drug ed in an open field and 400 signed drug-free pledges. In Lagos, Nigeria they’re going to bring in some professors and a doctor to talk to college students. In South Africa Narconon Cape Town is going to the Dutch Reform Church to talk.
Poster 26 Giugno 2011There are events throughout Italy. First off, it’s the 26th anniversary of Narconon Gabbiano (in the southern boot). And there the local city of Meledugno is dedicating a park in the name of L. Ron Hubbard, the humanitarian on whose work Narconon is based. But in Terni, the Olympic Committee, Knights of Malta, police and groups celebrating medieval life will combine with Narconon to do drug ed, a soccer match…well, those Italians like to have a good time in the summer sun.
Here in North America Narconon South Texas will talk and play with the juveniles receiving service at the Harlingen Bridge Outreach Center, of which Narconon is a member. Drug education events in all kinds of venues from Watsonville to Los Angeles, California, and many many other cities.
Down in Mexico, where Narconon International has been working all year long introducing drug free withdrawal techniques to Twelve Step centers (87 in six states, would you believe), Una Luz en el Camino and other Narconon First Step groups in Mazatlan will march and dance along their beachfront, distributing the popular little book of common sense, good life choices called The Way to Happiness.
Then there’s Russia, and Scandinavia, and Canada, and…
It’s a big world. But every child is worth the effort. Narconon is doing its part and we congratulate ALL those who will be getting out on 26 June or thereabouts to wave the drug-free flag. It’s worth the effort. After all, they’re our future.
