Guardian represents an ideal choice for any organization looking to reap the cost saving and convenience of Google Apps Email, while staying serious about business continuity and data protection.
Shreveport, LA (PRWEB) June 27, 2011
Many organizations deploy cloud solutions for cost savings and convenience, but can experience critical business setbacks caused by cloud data losses and lack of reliability. To ensure business continuity and data protection for Google Apps email, ArcMail Technology, Inc. today announced ArcMail Guardian, a new email archiving solution that integrates Google-hosted email with email from other corporate sources such as Microsoft Exchange.
Now available for order, ArcMail Guardian offers a hybrid approach to archiving that consists of an on-premise appliance that simultaneously retrieves, indexes and archives all email messages whether they are hosted by traditional email servers or as part of cloud-based corporate Google accounts. Guardian also gives organizations the added benefit of owning a copy of all email data, allowing easy migration of that data to new email platforms in the future.
“The combination of email protection and corporate ownership of the data allows us to eliminate the fear factors associated with corporate Gmail use,” says Rory Welch, CEO of ArcMail. “Guardian represents an ideal choice for any organization looking to reap the cost saving and convenience of Google Apps email, while staying serious about business continuity and data protection. The solution also works with traditional email systems to provide corporations with a single, centralized approach to archiving.”
Today’s announcement marks a new milestone in ArcMail’s strategy to provide universal archiving that spans email as well as other document types. The company is planning other product announcements throughout the year to extend the reach of its solutions beyond email archiving.
Fast, Easy Search and Recovery
When the need arises to recover email messages or attachments, ArcMail Guardian delivers industry-leading search and recovery functionality to make it easy. Any authorized individual can locate emails and attachments, and then restore that data to any user’s mailbox. For quick search and recovery, meta-data and text data are extracted from all parts of each message, including header, body and attachments, making it easy to locate files using intuitive keywords.
“ArcMail’s hybrid approach has the potential to open up new markets for corporate Gmail use, and should appeal to those organizations that have significant regulatory obligations to preserve data, as well as those that place a high value on the archive and retrieval of corporate data using on-premises infrastructure,” says Michael Osterman, of Osterman Research, an analyst firm providing research and insight to organizations in the messaging and collaboration industry. “For highly regulated firms, the loss of archived data is often worse than an email outage, since the consequences are so much greater. ArcMail addresses this issue with its robust business continuity capabilities.”
Two-Appliance Solution Provides Mission-Critical Reliability
ArcMail’s Guardian product provides mission-critical reliability in a two-part solution consisting of a Gmail Gateway appliance used in conjunction with an ArcMail Defender appliance. The Gmail Gateway routes all inbound, outbound and internal corporate Gmail messages and attachments to the ArcMail Defender archiving appliance.
To promote maximum reliability, all devices in the Guardian appliance are solid-state, even the disks. As a high-availability solution, Guardian keeps functioning even in the event of processor, memory or disk failure.
Guardian represents the newest addition to ArcMail’s Defender line of email archiving appliances, which are sold worldwide and include models ranging in capacity from 500GB to 13TB, with larger customized solutions also available. The Defender appliances feature a fault-tolerant open source design, multiple configuration options and archiving speeds of up to 500,000-plus messages per day.
Now available for order through ArcMail resellers across the U.S., ArcMail Guardian is priced starting at $10,399 for the bundled, two-appliance product.
