OnSIP, a provider of hosted Voice over IP business communications, announced today the latest addition to their website: a visualization of live calls made using the OnSIP service, made possible by an integration of real time OnSIP data and Google Maps API. Each time an OnSIP customer makes or receives a call, a pin is dropped on the live call map, openly displaying call volume peak and trend information.
“Our team is excited to show just how far we’ve taken phone service,” said Rob Wolpov, President of Junction Networks. “OnSIP is - at its core – a SIP communications platform built on software. It can be leveraged with other hosted services to deliver unique features and demos. This live call map is just one small example of our software engineers getting together over a short period of time to build an engaging visual that gives visitors a glimpse into our systems.”
This map is made possible by identifying the IP address of each OnSIP call origination and termination point, and then translating to lat/long coordinates via a geographic lookup service. These lat/long points are plotted on the Google Map using Google’s API.
“As a company, we continuously seek useful integrations for our customers,” said Wolpov. “All our services are offered through two open API’s, which can be found on our website and programmableweb.com.”
