Kabam™, the leading publisher of massively multiplayer social games (MMSGs) including Kingdoms of Camelot®, which was voted IGN Reader’s Choice Facebook Game of 2010, Dragons of Atlantis™, Glory of Rome™ and Global Warfare™, today announced its new European office in Luxembourg-Strassen, Luxembourg. The new office, which will be known as Kabam Europe, will be led by Managing Director Boris Pfeiffer, formerly European GM of the Internet advertising division of Monster Worldwide. Kabam Europe’s focus will be serving as a leading provider of localization and local language customer support for its social games in international markets.
“Kabam is committed to serving its international customers and enhancing their game experience,” said Boris Pfeiffer, managing director, Kabam Europe. “Translating games so players can experience them in their native languages while receiving localized support makes for a much more engaging and immersive gaming experience.”
Mr. Pfeiffer steps into the leadership role of Kabam Europe with over 15 years of general management, sales, and operations experience in technology and Internet-focused companies. Previously, he handled global sales, services, and operations for NxN Software, a leading supplier of production management solutions for gaming and CG film companies.
Kabam currently supports translation and localization of its games into 13 languages, and has already created 25 new jobs in Luxembourg. By year-end, Kabam Europe will house 50 professionals, most of who will be translators and customer support specialists for local language customer support. The office will also serve as a marketing and business development hub for the region, seeking partnerships that enable more European gamers access to Kabam games.
“International growth is a key to Kabam’s long-term strategy,” said Kabam chief operating officer Chris Carvalho.“This investment will help fuel a significant percentage of our business today across all games and will help us investigate establishing a development studio in Europe, similar to what we’ve set up in Beijing, China.”
“We are pleased that a rapidly growing technology company like Kabam selected Luxembourg as the site of their European headquarters. It validates Luxembourg as a center of technology and innovation in the heart of Europe,” said François Biltgen, the Luxembourg Minister of Communications and Media. “A responsive Government, deliberate pro-business policies and a skilled multilingual workforce played an important role in the implementation of the Kabam project in Luxembourg,” added Jeannot Krecké, Minister of the Economy and Foreign Trade. “Thus Luxembourg provides a perfect business environment for the European development of online gaming companies.”
Kabam is leading the next wave in gaming – hardcore social games. The company’s studios focus on combining the best elements of traditional and social gaming to appeal to a growing audience of gamers looking for highly immersive social games. The first wave of Kabam’s new games for Facebook and leading media sites, including IGN Reader’s Choice Facebook Game of 2010 Kingdoms of Camelot, have been widely recognized for their depth of play and social interaction.
