We are eager to work with CHCI to attain our mutual goal—developing great leaders in the public sector.

Steven B. Wiley and the Lincoln Leadership Institute at Gettysburg (LLI) are pleased to announce the formation of a partnership with the Center for Human Capital Innovation (CHCI), a think-tank dedicated to improving the performance and effectiveness of federal government operations.

LLI Founder and President Steven B. Wiley and the Lincoln Leadership Institute’s esteemed faculty apply leadership lessons drawn from the Battle of Gettysburg—one of the most critical battles of the Civil War that resulted in 51,000 casualties—to the challenges corporate and government entities face in today’s ever-changing business and organizational climate.

As part of the LLI/CHCI partnership, the Lincoln Leadership Institute will serve as a member of CHCI’s advisory board, advising CHCI on current and proposed initiatives and programs; will be featured in CHCI webcasts; will co-sponsor research white papers, CHCI workshops and courses; and will be a sponsor at CHCI live events and conferences.

The first joint event that LLI and CHCI will host is on Monday, July 11 at "Excellence in Government: The Premier Conference for Federal Managers," taking place this year in Washington, D.C. Wiley and Allan Schweyer, CHCI principal and partner, will present the session “Leadership Lessons from History.” To learn more about the session, visit http://www.excelgov.com/july_1.3.

"We are eager to work with CHCI to attain our mutual goal—developing great leaders in the public sector,” says Wiley.

In the past decade, scores of government employees and Fortune 100 corporate executives—including those from the U.S. Department of Defense, the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, the 2011 Presidential Management Fellows, and employees from Apple, the Ford Motor Company, ExxonMobil and Pfizer Pharmaceuticals—have participated in the Institute’s leadership development sessions. USA Today has described Wiley’s leadership development as “the most powerful performance training available,” while ABC News called Wiley “the best speaker you’ve never heard of!”

CHCI’s overall mission is to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of federal government operations through systematic improvements in Human Capital Management practices. CHCI serves as a trusted advisor, think-tank, thought leader, educator, analyst and coach dedicated to advancing the science of talent management for organizations in the government sector. The aim of CHCI is to improve the Return on People throughout government.

The goal of the partnership between CHCI and the Lincoln Leadership Institute is better government through human capital transformations that optimize the Return on People. Both organizations plan to disseminate their expert information through the use of targeted webcasts, case studies, workshops and events. As trusted advisors to senior executives within the government, CHCI and the Lincoln Leadership Institute at Gettysburg hope to make immediate contributions toward government agencies’ strategic objectives.

“We are excited to welcome the Lincoln Leadership Institute as a Founding Sponsor of CHCI. Their programs remind their students of the timeless leadership principles on display at Gettysburg—principles which apply so well in today’s government environment,” says Dr. Allen Zeman, president of the Center for Human Capital Innovation. “Viewed from many perspectives, government organizations are in the midst of trying times and increasingly must get more from their leaders if they are to achieve new levels for government productivity.”
