Executive chairman of Jumeirah Group, Gerald Lawless said: "Rory is truly an inspiration. Since his win at Quail Hollow in the US last year and indeed his victory in the Dubai Desert Classic in 2009, he has continued to impress and inspire golf enthusiasts around the world and we are immensely proud that he carries the Jumeirah brand."
Jumeirah group spotted Rory McIlroy golf (http://www.jumeirah.com/en/Jumeirah-Group/About-Jumeirah-Group/Sponsorship-and-events/Rory-McIlroy/Rorys-Tournaments/ ) superstar at an early age and have sponsored him from the moment he first turned professional in 2007. The luxury hotels (http://www.jumeirah.com/en/Hotels-and-Resorts/Destinations/Dubai/ ) group’s connection with Rory McIlory first came about in his hometown of Holywood in Northern Ireland, which is also home to Jumeirah Group's chief financial officer Alaister Murray.
It was then that Rory McIlroy sponsor (http://www.jumeirah.com/en/Jumeirah-Group/About-Jumeirah-Group/Sponsorship-and-events/ ) Jumeirah, spotted his talent and decided to invest in the young golfer's career. Jumeirah has closely followed Mcllory's burgeoning career with a passion ever since.
Rory Mcllory is a regular guest at many of the Jumeirah properties around the world, and has used these visits to demonstrate his skills off the golf course by trying his hand as a cook in Madinat Jumeirah's steak restaurant MJ's, riding on the new slides at Wild Wadi waterpark and helping as a turtle handler at Burj Al Arab.
Rory Mcllory has been sponsored by Jumeirah since 2007. He has since extended his contract with the luxury hotel chain in 2010 for a further three years.
