Dahn Yoga & Health Centers, Inc., one of the nation's leaders in health and wellness, announces a Community Spotlight for June 2011. It highlights the efforts of Mercy Tobin, a registered nurse, who teaches Dahn Yoga classes to her coworkers at the New York Harbor Healthcare System as well as army veterans at nearby Fort Hamilton.
Born in the Philippians and now a New York resident, Mercy began taking Dahn Yoga classes in 2005 when she was looking for a way to relieve the stress caused by her difficult job. Since then, she has been dedicated to helping others enjoy the many benefits of Dahn Yoga and has blossomed as an instructor. In fact, her students at the U.S. Army base and the hospital showed their gratitude by presenting her with a Certificate of Appreciation in December 2009.
In addition to the physical benefits of Dahn Yoga exercises, Mercy has also experienced a bevy of positive emotional outcomes. Through teaching she has transformed from a once-shy individual to a more outgoing and engaging instructor. "My experience with Dahn Yoga has changed how I look at things and relate with others, including my patients, as if I can really feel for them. I learned to accept things as they are."
