Blekko, the new search engine that is using human curation to eliminate spam from search results, announced today its partnership with Foodily, the world’s largest social recipe network, to curate search results for recipes; a cluttered and spam rich environment on most search engines.
Blekko has tapped Foodily’s trusted online community to edit and maintain its recipe-related slashtags, curating the most relevant recipe search verticals. Foodily brings together recipes from across the Web, allowing users to compare any recipe and find what their friends like.

Slashtags -- the magic behind blekko’s search -- are curated sets of web sites organized around a particular topic as broad as health, money, and autos, and as narrow as gluten-free, college football, and the Grateful Dead. Since launching in November, blekko users have created more than 110,000 slashtags, indicating that the search market is thirsty for innovation.

Recently, blekko announced the release of a major update that for the first time utilizes millions of social cues and human edits from over 100,000 user created slashtags, to put the best content at the top of search results. This update includes a new relevance model for ranking sites and an expanded index.
