Pentec Health, Inc. announced today a partnership with the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce that will impact the lives of five young Philadelphia area high school students. These students will work at Pentec Health’s headquarters and spend six weeks, beginning July 5, 2011, learning about the inner workings of a healthcare services business.

“We are excited to be a part of the Chamber’s internship program,” said Pentec Health Vice President of Human Resources Charlie Wilson. “And we are thrilled that these high school students are eager to learn about a real-world company first hand. Our interns will have the opportunity to experience many facets of Pentec Health, which will include finance, nursing, information technology, human resources, and administration. We hope to create a positive experience and encourage these students to pursue a career in the healthcare industry.”

Over the past the past four years, the Chamber and its partners have increased private sector paid summer internships to over 3,500 youth, as part of WorkReady Philadelphia. The Summer Internships program provides high school students with paid workplace experience at area businesses for six weeks during the summer. These internships give young people exposure to the working world and career opportunities, as well as an understanding of how school is connected to economic success.

Pentec Health’s five interns will each work 16 hours per week at the company’s Boothwyn headquarters, Monday through Thursday, and attend professional development programs offsite on Fridays.

"For far too many of our region’s ambitious and talented young people, promising careers simply seem out of reach,” said Rob Wonderling, President and CEO of the Greater Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. “As stakeholders in the future of this region, it is our responsibility to help change that. Working with employers and our partners in workforce development, we will give the city’s youth the chance to experience a professional environment and earn a paycheck.”
