Roxanne was in great pain and sleeping on her back for four months after her double mastectomy. The Comfort Quest Side Sleeper Pillow gave her the pain management and comfort which turned her life around.

The Side Sleeper Pillow

The pillow has made a huge difference in the quality of my sleep and in my life. I never thought this pillow could give me such an emotional lift.

Life was relatively normal for Roxanne as she prepared for the holidays last December. Yes, there had been some anxiety initially about two small cysts they found in her left breast but for the last six months her doctors had been keeping a close eye on them. At 51, this Washington state native who had regular mammograms through most of her adult life felt confident she would be fine.

What happened over the next eight months was unimaginable. Overnight the diagnosis went from two harmless cysts to three cancerous tumors requiring numerous operations which caused indescribable pain. Enormous amounts of time were expended fighting for her health. Losing time from work and traveling to multiple doctor appointments an hour and a half from her home and work had its own stress.

Today Roxanne is healthy, cancer free and even carefree after such an ordeal. She attributes most of the credit to her fiancé, Daniel, and Comfort Quest’s (CQ) Side Sleeper Pillow. Daniel stayed with Roxanne overnight at the hospital through all her surgeries nursing her back to health. The worst part of her post-surgical recovery, other than the excruciating pain, was the helpless feeling she had when she couldn’t do anything for herself including getting to the bathroom. Normal things we take for granted were outside her reach. There were times when she could do nothing but lie perfectly still in her hospital bed praying for the pain to subside. Daniel was her Rock. He provided her with an infinite amount of love, attention and emotional support. CQ’s Side Sleeper Pillow provided her with physical comfort, the ability to control her pain, the freedom of increased mobility, and independence. More important, the breast pillow provided the healing quality of a good night’s sleep after surgery, allowing her to rest on her side for the first time in months.

Roxanne was the first cancer patient to receive a pre-released version of the Comfort Quest Side Sleeper Pillow for Narrow Cleavage. Comfort Quest, Inc is the sole provider of the Side Sleeper Pillow specifically designed to help women recover and sleep comfortably after any type of chest surgery. The recover pillow for Narrow Cleavage is expected to start shipping in early July 2011.

“I have been on my back since February,” said Roxanne in late May. “It is horrible! I can’t get comfortable on my back and if I move the pain is too much. I desperately needed something that would help me sleep comfortably. Daniel was with me in bed but he couldn’t touch me because my body was riddled with pain. I desperately missed his touch and the ability to roll over in bed to look at him when we talked.”

Daniel provided the emotional support Roxanne needed, and CQ’s Side Sleeper Pillow provided pain management and enabled her to roll over on her side and gaze eye to eye with Daniel for the first time in months.

Throughout all of these painful procedures spanning four months, Roxanne had been sleeping on her back. A lifelong side sleeper, Roxanne was extremely uncomfortable and frustrated having to stay on her back. Then the frustration turned into physical pain when sleeping on her back caused her to lose fluid in her knee. All attempts to correct her knee problem were unsuccessful.

It was at this point that she came across a link to while blogging in a chat room for mastectomy patients. “I was always on the web searching for answers from people who had similar experiences,” said the now 52-year-old cancer free Roxanne. “I clicked on the mastectomy link and there it was…the Comfort Quest Side Sleeper Pillow.”
Roxanne was impressed by the photo and description of CQ’s Side Sleeper Pillow and what it claimed to do. She purchased it with hopes of resolving some of the issues she was having and anxiously awaited its arrival as she had no other options.

Within days of receiving the pillow she received a call from Ben Kass, President of Comfort Quest who was interested in finding out if the pillow served her needs. Roxanne shared the problem she was having and she was pleasantly surprised when Kass offered a solution. He overnighted a pre-released version of CQ’s Side Sleeper Pillow for Narrow Cleavage which was a superior fit for her anatomy and it worked as advertised.

“For the first time in months, I can sleep on my side again,” Roxanne beamed. “My knee stopped hurting soon after and I immediately found a comfortable position when sleeping with the pillow. The second pillow with the narrow center fits perfectly in my cleavage and is very comfortable. The expanders are no longer a problem and for the first time in a long time I am sleeping on my side and getting a good night’s sleep after surgery. The pillow has made a huge difference in the quality of my sleep and in my life. I never thought this pillow could give me such an emotional lift. This might be a small thing to some people, but it’s huge for me. Daniel and I can spoon again in bed! We haven‘t done that in months. I give the pillow all the credit. Even more importantly, I can roll over in bed and look at Daniel while we talk. I couldn’t do that before. I didn’t realize how much I missed his touch and the human contact.”

Roxanne is now cancer free and looking forward to her breast reconstruction in September.

Comfort Quest, Inc is a southern California based corporation located in Agoura Hills. The company intends to continue to develop post surgery products for women. The Side Sleeper Pillow is the company’s first product in this category.
