Supporting the needs of businesses with client hospitality trips, staff reward experiences and engaging team building activities, Simon Read, the corporate minded skipper of Suffolk Coast Sailing, explains how help is at the helm.

Team-building challenges, staff reward days, client entertainment, networking and business trips are all enjoyed on board yacht EMMA.

Ever heard of the phrase ‘Hang your job title on a hook outside the door’? When you are all learning a new skill, everyone is in the same boat – literally!

Now more than ever, employers are having to look out for the welfare of their staff. With cutbacks and increased workloads, there is no denying the difference a well-motivated and productive team can make.
Helping businesses make the most of their staff development opportunities is Suffolk Coast Sailing, a yacht charter company based at Woolverstone Marina in Ipswich.

The company’s yacht, a modern Beneteau 323 Oceanis Clipper called EMMA, is skippered by Simon Read, who is a fully qualified, commercially endorsed RYA (Royal Yachting Association) Yachtmaster Offshore. He says, “Sailing is an ideal sport for team building and bonding. When you are confined to a sailing boat, surrounded by water, you have no option but to co-operate in a close-knit environment.”

Along with his qualifications in sailing, Simon’s corporate background is perhaps where Suffolk Coast Sailing’s area of expertise stems from; “Having worked for a major multi-national company for more than 30 years, living in the UK, Hong Kong and Malaysia, I understand the importance of business relationships and how they are developed,” explains Simon. “Suffolk Coast Sailing specialises in a range of corporate opportunities; team-building challenges, staff reward days, client entertainment, networking and business trips are all enjoyed on board EMMA.”
With a reliance on nature and the elements, Suffolk Coast Sailing experiences are about adventure, exploration, teamwork and fun. “Sailing offers so many opportunities and we have designed flexible programmes that make the most of them, whether it’s to relax and enjoy the spectacular views or get hands on and tackle the challenges of sailing.”

“As a team training exercise, sailing is a great way to bring together business associates from all levels of the company,” says Simon. “Ever heard of the phrase ‘Hang your job title on a hook outside the door’? When you are all learning a new skill, everyone is in the same boat – literally!”

To accommodate groups of 5+, Suffolk Coast Sailing works alongside other sea schools and charter companies. For further information, or to book, please call 07940016672 or visit http://www.suffolkcoastsailing.co.uk
