Winning an award like this is acknowledgment that what I’m doing professionally is positive – that others recognize my achievements and they do matter
Louisville, KY (PRWEB) July 01, 2011
Emily Carroll was named as one of Advertising Federation of Louisville’s AdFed Hot Ten at last week’s AdFed Annual Awards Luncheon and Membership Meeting. Carroll is the Strategic Planning + Consumer Insights Manager at LeapFrog Interactive (LFI), a digital advertising agency with offices in Louisville, Cincinnati and Boston.
According to the Advertising Federation of Louisville’s website, the recipients of the awards are “ten individuals under the age of 30 who are making contributions to Louisville’s professional, economic, social, and cultural landscape. The applicants for Hot Ten were judged on career accomplishments, volunteer work, thoughts on advertising, career goals and why they chose the advertising and marketing profession.”
There were 33 finalists for the AdFed Hot Ten, and 10 candidates received the distinction.
Carroll said, “Winning an award like this is acknowledgment that what I’m doing professionally is positive – that others recognize my achievements and they do matter. I was also really honored to be among some pretty outstanding young professionals.”
“Marketing and advertising piqued my interest at a young age. Right around the time I was about to graduate, the show “Mad Men” aired on AMC. The intricacies of client-agency relationships and the art of using images and sound to compel people to take action are quite fascinating to me. At LFI, I’m involved in media planning and buying, and naturally, making connections with people and understanding human behavior is a big part of what I do,” said Carroll.
Carroll received a Bachelor’s degree from Bellarmine University where she studied Communications & Business Administration with a focus in Marketing.
A heavy importance was placed not only on the person’s career, but also on volunteering and being involved with the community. Carroll’s biggest community project was organizing the Flash Mobsters of Louisville. Starting the group on Facebook, Carroll recruited over 700 people in the Louisville area who were interested in doing a flash mob. She then found choreographers, sponsors, and led the way. Through eight weeks of rehearsals in locations throughout Louisville, 200 people practiced the flash mob that would be done at Greater Louisville Inc’s Annual Meeting at the KFC YUM! Center in downtown Louisville. To date, it is Louisville’s largest flash mob.
Carroll volunteers for Habitat for Humanity on her own time, but has also volunteered alongside fellow LeapFrog Interactive employees for the Center for Women and Families, Gilda’s Club of Louisville, and the American Lung Association.
