Predictive Analytics Course to Help Fundraising Professionals Learn to Build Their Own Predictive Models

Rapid Insight Inc. today announced a collaborative effort with Brown University to host a course on predictive modeling for fundraisers. The two day course is set to take place on August 18th -19th, 2011 at the Brown University campus in Providence, RI. The course is designed for people who are just starting out in their predictive donor modeling efforts, as well as those who are already involved with analytics and are looking to gain a better understanding.

Once a tool utilized mainly by large businesses and corporations, predictive modeling and data mining is becoming more and more common in the non-profit world. Whereas corporations utilize predictive modeling to understand and predict customer and prospect behavior, non-profits utilize the same methodologies to understand donor and prospective donor behavior.

By bringing together current thought leaders in advancement research and data mining, the goal of the course is to help to jumpstart the analytic abilities of institutions looking to embrace these methods for their fundraising efforts. Brown University makes use of advanced analytics and predictive modeling in their Advancement Office while Rapid Insight develops predictive modeling technologies utilized by Brown University and other institutions.

At this two day workshop, attendees will learn the basics of building predictive models to advance their fundraising efforts. Day one will be tool agnostic and will focus on basic statistics, data preparation, and model building. Day two will be a hands-on workshop where Rapid Insight® tools will be used to build models.
